GUEST SPEAKER

SIMON J. COSTA AO

Simon is a businessman, humanitarian and philanthropist. With 30 years executive experience, including 22 years as CEO/Director of large private, public and humanitarian organisations, he understands the complexities of business better than most. He is also recognised by the United Nations with a Global Humanitarian Award for impactful innovations in undeveloped countries

As the head of one of Australia’s largest private companies, he was responsible for 32 operating entities, employing over 13,000 people. In 2011 Simon’s focus changed from pursuing material success to pursuing meaningful significance. He left corporate life and volunteered to support the United Nations for six months, where he remained in Africa (without his family) for over 7 years.

Simon is a problem solver on a global scale. He has repeatedly demonstrated an ability to successfully lead teams in overcoming seemingly impossible tasks. He was the head of a major project responsible for identifying the causal issues of poverty and starvation in developing countries, resulting in 100’s of thousands of families escaping poverty.

Simon has been appointed a Senior Officer of the Order of Australia for outstanding service to business and humanity. He was also awarded the Pride of Australia Medal for his selfless service to the disadvantaged internationally and within Australian society.
