Intuitively we all appreciate the value of who you know.
But Jon and Kwan take this to a more practical and tangible level – he has elevated the art of networking by developing a methodology to improve yourself, your business, your life by leveraging those around you.

The objective of developing future leaders of business, government and community requires business schools..
To do more than merely equip their students with analytical tools. Having a world view on their professional networks and wider community which is not merely transactional and mercenary but about the value of people, is something that Jon Burgess and Kwan exemplify.

Jon's thought leadership session 'The Three Minds' was refreshing, heartfelt and it focused on the key elements which intuitively feel right.
Rather than providing superficial tips for networking, the focus on 'connecting' with people and attempting to 'build genuine relationships and friendships' truly 'struck a chord'. It is by itself certainly an example of 'true differentiation' and shows the right way forward - a definite must-attend for those who believe in 'real networking' as a way of life

I approached Jon’s workshop with great reluctance. Being a life long member of Introverts Anonymous, I had to push myself out of my comfort zone...
I’m glad I did as the experience was a revelation. I learned the value of reframing the way I think about networking:
- Connections with people was what counted, not contacts.
- Connections can be measured by a simple rule - are they thinking of you…and are you thinking of them?
- Positive intentions do count – I’m responsible for the thought, not the outcome
- When you meet others, you’re networking for your network, not just yourself
- Understand your true value and operate from it – who are you when you strip away your job title, family name, net worth, etc?
In retrospect, I can see why networking was such a painful experience; my understanding of networking was tainted by this 1980s mindset that good networking meant you had to be larger than life, work the room, get business cards, etc.
Jon’s The Three Minds concept has opened up new possibilities for me to develop sustainable connections because it helped me resolve a few issues that seem paradoxical at first; the more genuine you are, the more efficient your networking becomes; if you contribute to others’ interests, you will advance your own Finally, I just find it a relief that I don’t have to be a raging extrovert, have a big job title, or a branded surname in order to connect, and make a difference.

It was good to learn our PLD participants sampled some of your knowledge late in June in Boston...
Your work on the value of networks and relationships, listening to others, finding ways to build rapport and respect should be most valuable across the workplace. Today's young, developing executives who may become the next generation of general managers in Australia should benefit from your insights.

I just wanted to drop you a line and say that i found you...
to be a truly inspiring person. You transmit good energy and raises people awareness a great deal, even on short meetings in an impersonal atmosphere like ours. I learned a lot from how you view life and how you treat people around you, something I'm very grateful for. It's very impressive what you've accomplished with "KWAN" and I'm sure you'll be back lecturing at Harvard before you know it !
